Vintage Victorian Garnet Circle Brooch c.1880 . A charming and delicate design with two overlapping circles claw set with faceted garnets. The garnets are set in garnet gold, a lower grade carat gold used in the production of garnet jewellery in that era. Garnet was a very popular stone in the Victorian period because of the darker colour and the association with morning jewellery.Garnets are the traditionally the birthstone for January.This piece fastens with a pin and open 'c' clasp and measures 2.5cm in length and 1.5cm in height.
