Absolutely one-of-a-kind, this Victorian antique brooch takes a favored motif and "does it" 10 times as charming.

An 18k yellow gold signpost is adorned with a swinging gold shield shape displaying a diamond and natural pearl fly. Silver and rose cut diamonds trail along the underside as ornamentation and more saltwater pearls dot the posts, top, bottom and sides.

Greek culture considered the fly sacred, and many others over the millennium used fly motifs in their ornamentation.

Whether this was custom made for a family with a crest that utilized the fly, or a superlative folly of Victorian sensibility, it is unique and evocative.
